Testimonials...A FEW COMMENTS FROM OTHERS: John jumped out of a speeding boat to retrieve his hat without his mate noticing. "It was a very long 10 minutes before he came back looking. Fully clothed I could not possibly have remained afloat treading water that long without my (V200) vest". * Fred sat on the gunwale of his mates boat to fish, then noticed his wallet had flipped out of his trouser back pocket and was floating away. A big man makes a big splash and created great mirth amongst his fishing buddies till they realised his frog impressions from 6 feet uderwater were serious!. Just as well one of the crew was was able to swim down, grab the collar of Fred's heavy woollen coat, "rip the pocket off" his own Stormy Seas vest which easily supplied enough bouyancy for both of them. * Dave misjudged the channel on a local river bar. With less than half a meter swell on a glassy sea who would have guessed that disaster lurked. As the wave he was riding on spilled out and the bow hit sand less than 2 meteres from the channel, the 5 metre boat turned side-on to the next wave then rolled 360 degrees "in slow motion". 5 trolling rods fell out of the rocket launcher and started discharging a zillion yards of invisible 24kg (50lb) nylon into the assorted flotsam. Mark, the only person on board not wearing a Stormy Seas garment, was being cut to pieces by the mono he and the boat were tangled in, and would surely have drowned if Dave had not been able to reach him, inflate his own Stormy Seas vest and drag his cut and bleeding mate to safety. * "...the guy on the jetski shot right in front of us as we approached the bar, I had to turn to miss him just as the wave broke.... luckily we were all wearing Stormy Seas. We still haven't found my boat..." * Here's a beaut! " Our lines were tangled and thinking the fish was on my friends line I cut my line off. The bass (about 40kg) started floating away, it was my first big fish and I wasn't gonna lose it so I stripped to my jocks and dived in. When I reached the fish about 20 meters away I was stuffed and could not swim back to the boat, one of the guys dived in and swam to me then inflated his Stormy Seas vest to keep us afloat. By the time the boat came we had drifted nearly a mile....but I got my fish :-) *
Remember "ACCIDENTS ARE NOT PLANNED.....SURVIVAL IS! The
Stormy Seas jacket provided more freeboard than any other device we tested,
and it was the most comfortable. I
lost everything of material value that night but the two things I had
on gave me a second chance, your jacket and my knife. The jacket saved
heat by keeping my head out of the water and the buoyancy aided in my
self rescue of the kayak. In a world of product hype, yours really delivers.
As
a Senior Paramedic and Senior Emergency Medical Services Instructor, it
was part of my job to evaluate and implement life saving procedures and
equipment. In the business of saving lives, it is paramount that equipment
be simple to use and that it does exactly what it is sup- posed to do.
My Stormy Seas flotation jacket not only meets those rigid standards,
but far exceeds them. "We
were inside and had to clamber under the railing and dive to get out,
if we had been wearing lifejackets they would of have hampered us"...
'The
weight of my boots and foulweather gear was pulting me down, but l did
not pull the pocket of my Stormy Seas immediately . I was afraid if I
surfaced the skiff would land on top of me so I stayed down as long as
I could ..... "I
had to swim about 50 meters through the the chop to reach him. I then
fully inflated my jacket which held us both up till they brought the boat".
An
old lifejacket was among the equipment but the man had not been wearing
it". 'The
boat sank in seconds we were too busy panicking to think about lifejackets"
'The
skipper told police he had two lifejackets stowed under rear seat.. none
of them were able to get to the rear seats because the boat sank sternfirst"
"I
was still clutching my rod, that's how quick it happened" Inflatable
protection you wear is much better than devices you keep under a seat
or locker". |
